Tonight was filled with some of my favorites. We were able to have my sister Lindsie come over and visit us all day. Mayci lights up when she's here. Which brings me to another one of my favorites, Christmas music. Something about having your tree lights on and Christmas music playing in the background that makes everything feel so cozy and festive. I loved watching Lindsie scoop Mayci up into her arms and dance around to the music. I stood there silently watching, warmed by the wide smiles they both shared on their faces. Spinning and twirling, laughing and giggling, I loved it!! Mayci hated when Lindsie would put her down. I bet that Mayci could have gone on all night. Another favorite was that my mom made sugar cookies. Completely goes along with the feeling of tonight. I loved it when she knelt down and helped Mayci frost her own cookie:) But what made my heart melt the most is all explained in the picture above. I had gotten Mayci ready for bed, and needed to go throw a diaper in the garbage. Mayci knows it's routine to have a bed time story. Grandma didn't hesitate to jump right in and read to her. When I came back and rounded the corner this is what I found. I couldn't help but smile. She was reading her a Christmas story that Mayci loves, you can tell by how intent she is. So I snuck away and came back with my camera to capture the moment. No, it's not rare to find someone sitting in that exact same chair reading a book to that same little girl, but something about tonight made it a little different for me. We definitely had the Christmas spirit in our home tonight, and it was wonderful!!
